During a body sculpting treatment, an ultrasound wave (energy) is applied to the skin surface. When the energy enters the fat layer beneath the skin, it causes fat cells to rupture. Electrical energy, in the form of radiofrequency (RF) energy causes heat. When RF energy is carefully applied to the skin, it can cause heating in the layer of fat under the skin and in the fascia (the strands that connect the skin to the fat layer). Radio frequency treatments tighten skin due to skin shrinking and increases in collagen production.
Laser Lipo or Low-level light therapy (LLLT), uses extremely low doses of visible light that do not heat the skin or fat. LLLT works by photobiomodulation, which means they may change the way a cell works with just a small amount of light, without any change in temperature.
